    Position Purpose Summary

    Installs, configures, and maintains operating systems and servers to support business processing requirements.  Schedules, performs, and maintains software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.

    Responsibilities

    • Understands the company’s vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.
    • Identifies, determines the cause of, and corrects instances of server performance degradation; monitors and tunes system to achieve optimum performance levels.
    • Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations; develops disaster recovery testing and procedures.
    • Conducts incident resolution by providing first-level and second-level diagnosis, resolution, and escalation of system and application problems.
    • Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
    • Recommends appropriate hardware/software platforms and recommends systems integration required to support business applications needs.
    • Provides functional guidance, advice, and/or training to less experienced systems administration professionals.

    Qualifications

    • BA / BS required.  Masters a plus.
    • 5-7+ years of experience in related area of responsibility.   3-5+ years with a master’s degree.
    • Certification may be required.
    • Knowledge of server operation system installation and maintenance. 
    • Knowledge of data center operations support. 
    • Knowledge of general programming concepts. 
    • Knowledge of and experience with programming and productivity software. 
    • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite Software and relevant tools/technology.
