    Position Purpose Summary

    Responsible for delivering the revenue, profit, and market share objectives of assigned National Accounts by providing outstanding leadership, strategy development, business plan deployment, fact based selling and tactical execution.


    • Understands the company’s vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.
    • Implement strategic marketing and sales plans that maximize profitable growth. Provides strategic and organizational leadership by supporting and maintaining long term, value-based business to business relationships.
    • Establishes / enhances processes as it relates to the efficient management of the team to achieve increased revenue and customer satisfaction goals.
    • Creates and implements strategies to improve sales and profits, while acting as an expert advisor to buyers; partners with key customers to identify program, product, distribution, and merchandising solutions that increase profits for the customer and BlueLinx. Achieves assigned sales goals for new and existing accounts, products, volume and promotional planning, and execution of sales/marketing initiatives. 
    • Analyzes the competitive landscape and monitor industry trends.  Recognizes competitive business issues while leading the development and implementation of strategic plans to grow business. Creates long-term account strategies, including analysis of product, pricing and product introductions.  Develops, monitors, and analyzes sales forecasts and related data including profitability, and rate of sale.   
    • Participates and provides input within the company to product development, business plan development, trade show and consumer marketing and budget planning.
    • Develops, builds and enhances relations with internal leadership (VP’s, RVP’s and GM’s), major account buyers as well as with inventory planning, replenishment, supply chain management, store operations, marketing, and category management planning to understand their needs and grow the business.
    • Varying levels of travel on behalf of the company is part of the requirement for this role.
    • Leads team; selects/hires; develops objectives; coaches and evaluates performance. Ensures direct reports obtain applicable training and development opportunities to enhance performance, development, and contributions to the company.  Holds direct reports accountable for individual and team performance.  Addresses performance issues appropriately and timely.




    • Successful sales and marketing background. Strategic planning, negotiation, financial analysis, decision making, innovation, change management, persuasiveness, strong interpersonal skills and work ethic.
    • Teamwork, ability to function well at different levels in a team environment, ability to manage multiple priorities, sense of urgency, problem solving. Customer focused.  Extensive product knowledge.   
    • Ability to teach and enforce AOP targets.
    • Ability to build and execute market sales strategy. Program sales experience.  Proficiency using Microsoft Office Software.  
    • 10+ years of experience in related field typically required; 8+ years with MS/MA/MBA
    • BS / BA Degree in related field typically required. MS / MA / MBA a plus.
