    Position Purpose Summary: 

    BlueLinx has an excellent opportunity for a person skilled in CADD technology with a solid understanding of building construction (preferably with a focus on residential construction). The Technical Associate services our customer base (lumber dealers) by providing detailed, engineered lumber layouts (and accompanying material schedules) for the primary purpose of sales support.


    • Understands the company’s vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.
    • Provides technical assistance and troubleshooting to customers regarding engineered lumber products.  Provides product selection and product information.
    • Generates engineered wood product schematic layouts and structural load calculations based on provided architectural and/or structural plans.
    • Generate, improve and maintain technical service tools, models, presentations, and comparisons.
    • Meets plan productivity schedule and remains current on technical trends in market segments.


    • Proficiency in drafting and design software
    • Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints a plus
    • Strong communication skills; detail oriented, reliable
    • knowledgeable in basic computer skills; knowledge or experience in building construction and structural design a plus;

    • Ability to learn and apply new skills 

    • Minimum associates degree in CADD or equivalent technical training preferred
