    Position Purpose Summary: 

    Leads coordination of negotiations and purchasing of commodity activity between company and outside producers.  Responsible for planning, scheduling, advising, market analysis, forecasting and communicating of market activity.  Develops and implements specific sourcing strategies to support corporate objectives, providing the company competitive advantage in the areas of materials and services.  Creates and maintains mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement to ensure customer satisfaction and enhance supply chain effectiveness and efficiency.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Understands the company’s vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.
    • Utilizes knowledge of vendor manufacturing capabilities, supply and demand cycles, key quality components / product design to coordinate purchasing and inventory management activities and to make buying decisions.
    • Conducts and understands market analysis.  Track and forecasts key cost drivers, future costs and market conditions affecting availability.  Manages cost fluctuations.
    • Advises management of market activity and pricing, industry competitive situations, alternative supply sources, material costs, commodity price trends, and supply-demand situations based on knowledge of company's policy.
    • Develop and maintain supplier relationships that focus on long-term planning that will provide the company with competitive advantages in lowest total cost, highest quality products, and superior customer service.
    • Develops long and short-range procurement strategies that ensure quality material supply with minimal cost.
    • Drives increasing inventory turns by developing, implementing and managing innovative material replenishment processes.  Drives for continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process.
    • Resolves claim issues and provides guidance  / problem solving as it relates to purchasing, inventory management and pricing

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of commodity buying, vendor management, customer support/service, pricing and inventory management. 
    • Knowledge of materials management, purchasing methods, expediting procedures, and supply chain integration. 
    • Knowledge of manufacturing capabilities, supply and demand cycles, quality and product design. 
    • Excellent negotiation, planning, project management, interpersonal, communications and facilitation skills. 
    • Sales support experience and good financial / numeric analysis.  Attention to detail and judgment. 
    • Pricing and inventory management experience.  Strong knowledge of procurement practices, terms and negotiation concepts. 
    • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite Software and relevant tools/technology.
    •  Years of experience:  5-7 years experience preferred with BS / BA; 3-5 years experience with MS / MA / MBA.
