Position Purpose Summary: 

BlueLinx has an excellent opportunity for a person skilled in CAD with a solid understanding of building construction (preferably with a focus on residential construction). The Technical Specialist position services our customer base (lumber dealers) by providing detailed, engineered lumber layouts (and accompanying material schedules) for the primary purpose of sales support for BlueLinx’ onCENTER Engineered Wood Products.

 

 

Responsibilities

In support of onCENTER Engineered Wood Products, the Technical Specialist will be required to:

  • Design and draw engineered lumber floor and roof layouts of existing residential and commercial projects using proprietary CAD software
  • Provide technical phone support for customers and offsite BlueLinx employees
  • Interact with builders, architects, engineers, lumber dealer employees, and BlueLinx sales people
  • Assist in software training

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years of AutoCAD experience
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints
  • Knowledge of multi-unit / multi-family construction and light-commercial construction methods, structure and wood frame construction
  • Working knowledge and understanding of load development and load flow tracking
  • Strong communication skills
  • Preferred BS/BA or higher
