Position Purpose Summary:

Serves as an inside product manager on a district inside sales team. Core responsibilities encompass pricing, inventory, promotions, marketing and forecasting activities for assigned product category(ies). Facilitates all aspects of the sales process for assigned product(s) to include identifying new opportunities; developing sales solutions; closing sales opportunities; negotiating pricing; providing outstanding customer service and follow-up. Partners with other sales personnel to ensure sales efforts are maximized and opportunities uncovered. May also have inside sales responsibilities for existing accounts through inbound and outbound telephone calls. Approximately 70% of an associate’s time is spent on Product Management activities and 30% on Inside Sales activities.

Responsibilities

  • Understands the company’s vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.
  • Has assigned product responsibility including managing inventory levels, product sourcing, managing inventory turns, building vendor relationships, providing local sales plans/forecasts and purchasing decisions.
  • Identifies new sales opportunities with existing customers. Maximizes sales efforts by focusing sales time on largest most profitable opportunities (may include segmenting account list and creating customer / product sales plans).
  • Responsible for all aspects of internal sales process for assigned products including promoting product to other sales employees, product pricing, developing promotional literature and market intelligence.
  • Improves profitability, product penetration and product mix with all customers.
  • Qualifies sales opportunities through market / customer research and teaming with outside sales representatives.
  • Develops sales solutions and competitive pricing strategies. Communicates value proposition to customers. Proposes sales solutions to customers and re-evaluates solutions where necessary.
  • Closes sales opportunities by gaining purchase orders and executing all order fulfillment procedures.
  • Provides outstanding customer service and post sales satisfaction, facilitating long-term relationships for repeat business.
  • Varying levels of travel on behalf of the company is part of the requirement for this role.

Qualifications

Good planning, organization, communication, problem solving and decision-making. A solid level of knowledge is needed in account management, scheduling, customer support and service, product knowledge, product pricing, sales support, warehousing, distribution, transportation and records management. Possesses strong telephone skills with the ability to identify key issues, evaluate facts and recommend appropriate action. Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite Software and relevant sales systems technology.  

 

Years of experience: 7-10+ years of experience with BS / BA or equivalent industry experience preferred.
